If you forget your previously saved password for your WiFi network, don’t worry. With the arrival of iOS 16 (and soon with iPadOS 16), it is pretty easy to view them!
That’s because Apple is also allowing this information to be viewed on the iPhone and iPad, something that was not possible before. Here’s how to do it here.
How to view WiFi password on iPhone
Before you can view your WiFi network password on your iPhone, you must ensure your iPhone is updated to the latest iOS 16 (if you haven’t done that already). After that, follow these simple steps to view the WiFi password of your active or saved Wi-Fi network:
- First, open Settings and tap on “WiFi“.
- Next to the name of the network you are currently connected to, tap the “i“.
- For security reasons, below “Automatic Connection”, you will see the option “Password“, next to some dots that hide it. To reveal it, tap on it and authenticate using Face ID or Touch ID.
- After authentication, your iPhone will reveal the network’s WiFi password.
Finally, in addition to viewing WiFi passwords on the iPhone, you can also simply copy them down on paper or in a digital note app.
It is strongly advised not to share your WiFi password carelessly
Before you start sharing your Wi-Fi password with everyone, remember there are consequences to it. For example, your iPhone can be infected with malware from a connected infected device.
Someone can also spy on your traffic data to check what you or other users on the network are doing. So be careful of the people you share your WiFi password with.
